Serena Williams

Athlete Serena Williams became a professional tennis player in 1995. Since that time, she has won more Grand Slam titles in women's doubles, singles and mixed doubles than any other current player. The Compton native is the most recent player to simultaneously hold all four Grand Slam singles titles, making her the fifth women to attain this accomplishment in tennis history, and she is the only player to ever achieve a Career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles. Along with her sister Venus, she has won three Olympic gold medals in women's doubles.  Together, Serena and Venus have won 13 Grand Slam doubles titles.  Yet Serena has bested her sister six out of eight times when they've met in Grand Slam finals. Deemed one of the greatest tennis players of all time, in 2013 the three-time WTA Tour champion was ranked number one in the world, making her the oldest first-ranked player in WTA history. In 2009, she and her sister made a move off the court by becoming part owners of the Miami Dolphins.
