A former businessman and governor, Mitt Romney's 2012 White House bid is his second attempt to win the Oval Office. Romney was born on March 12, 1947, in Detroit. During his tenure as governor of Massachusetts, he reduced a $3 billion deficit and instituted universal health care for residents. He and his wife Ann have five sons. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormon Church.
